Envision Pune is a project which explores and iterates on the various growth patterns of an important city like Pune. The study tries to address fundamental questions such as the protection of the environment and natural resources, a metro line for effective interconnections and enquires about where and how future growth of Pune should occur within the expanded municipal limits of Pune.

Pune is likely to grow from its current 50 lakh population to about 90 lakhs in 15 years as per a recent study. The “Envision Pune” Master plan of a 15,000-acre area will include the opportunity sites of ring roads, riverfront development, a downtown/CBD, Smart townships centred on transit stations, and redevelopment of public lands such as Railway stations and Cantonment areas as a land monetization mechanism for revenue generation. These opportunity sites are expected to house a resident population of about 10 lakhs with roughly 2 lakhs jobs, 1200 acres of parks and open spaces.
