Conceived to be largely a dry construction, the Research and Development wing of IASYS Headquarters is made out of prefabricated structure, constructed elsewhere and assembled onsite. The steel structure is then clad with cement boards to form the building envelope.
The idea was to design a building that is lightweight and airy, both in weight and appearance. Responding to this vision, the structure is staggered and broken in two parts vertically. Inspired by Steven Holl’s U-glass, polycarbonate sheets were used to create the lantern-like effect in the top half of the building.
