Intending to develop a MasterPlan over a period of 15 years, the proposal for the Long Range 100 Acre Campus was in response to the invitation of a closed competition for IISER, under the HRD Ministry, Govt of India.

The design framework for the campus Masterplan is based on the principles of connectivity, walkability and integration. The master plan is conceived as a composition of formal and informal open spaces throughout the campus, structured along a central mall (spine). The proposal includes appropriate land use patterns with separate academic and residential zones. The open space strategy enhances visual connectivity with overall built form identifying the floor plates and architectural character for all the buildings.
